A Strong Woman

I would like to talk about Anna, my protagonist in To Tell the Truth because she is every woman out there. Yes, she is me, but she is a little bit of every woman.

Anna was raised by a military father. He was strict and controlling. When he died, she found herself having to take care of her mother as well as her mother’s finances. In addition to that, she had a younger sister, not yet able to take care of herself, to take care of and get through school. There was a heavy financial burden also, but it was Anna losing everything that really started the beginning of the end for her.

Senator Kenneth Levall, upon hearing her story, realized an opportunity that he well took advantage of, but he made the mistake of not only falling in love with Anna but misjudging her. That led to his downfall.

Each stumbling block that Anna encountered she had to overcome, and with each one she grew stronger. It took that strength for Anna to face and get over that last stumbling block, which led to the death of the senator and the trial of John Mentz, the man she finally realized she loved. Anna came out of all this a much stronger woman.

That is the case with each and every one of us. We face the stumbling blocks in our lives, and we either gain the strength to overcome them and go on or we fall back in defeat, a weaker person.

My hope is that Anna can inspire the women in real life to face those stumbling blocks in their lives and grow to be much stronger women.

You’d think it was August here. Our temperature will be in the low 90’s for the next 3 to 4 days. Not good for going outside and working, but it will be perfect weather to stay inside and write. Got my big glass of water by my side, the kitties are quiet, and I’m in the mood!

What am I writing on? Well, I do have three books started, but at the moment I’m writing on one that has been nagging at me for a long time, just as To Tell the Truth did. It is a story of a young woman, whose life consisted of an alcoholic father and drug-addicted mother leaving her vulnerable to being raped by an uncle. She ran away from that life to find herself on the streets. A pimp managed to talk her into following his control over her as a prostitute. The story starts out with her standing over her pimp’s dead body, a gun in her hand, and blood everywhere. What does a 17 year-old girl do but run. In Run, Angel, Run that is exactly what she does, but her past comes back to haunt her.

Join me, folks, on this journey.

Good morning, everyone!

What a beautiful day it is. I’d like to encourage everyone to read a book today. It is good to read a little everyday. It keeps the mind alert, is relaxing, and you may even learn a new word.

Speaking of new words, do you make an effort to look up words you don’t know? Well, you should. I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older that I’ve forgotten some words I used to know and use. My vocabulary has gotten shorter, too. So reading can help this. We have to make an effort to keep our vocabulary broadened. It doesn’t just happen. We have to work at it. Keep yourself and your mind alert, broadened, and intelligent by reading and making an effort to look up those words you don’t know.

Read a book today! It doesn’t have to be a long book. If you don’t have the time to read, those short books can be for you. There are some really good ones out there.

Have a good day and take the time to read a few pages today.

I just finished an exciting workshop on Podcasting. I’ll have to play around with this but it sounds like something I would be interested in doing later on. Anyone interested can check on Magdalena Ball’s blog at  www.magdalenaball.com.

I have someone working on getting my manuscript ready to put on Kindle and for smashwords.com catalog so my book  will go out to other stores. I have had an offer for a book review and will be taking that person up on it. Slowly I’m getting there.

In the meantime, I’m getting a little writing done on one of the three books I have going right now. I’ve had some problems getting everything set up, but I’m getting there and then I’ll have more time to write. May have to take a vacation first. 🙂

Tired and craving chocoloate!

Ah, yes, I faced a block in my going forward with my book, but somehow I will overcome. I just found out yesterday that my book is not yet on Kindle. I can’t quite figure out why, but I’ll keep working at it until I do. If anyone out there can help me, I would appreciate it.

What’s life without a few bumps in the road?

It is a romantic suspense, and my bookcover is awsome.
