The Bible Murders

I’ve been working on The Bible Murders. The characters, John Mentz and Anna Kayce, come back together in this book and find their passion and love for each other is still there. But Anna brings John the challenge of finding out if Jennifer Price really did the murders. In his investigation John finds many family secrets, deep secrets. It’s looking like Jennifer had reason to commit the murders, but did she really do them? John’s not sure, but his love for Anna drives him to help her by trying to find out the truth about what happened that night.

Stayed tuned!

Good morning!

I’ve been working on Run, Angel, Run and on The Bible Murders. It’s fun getting into the characters’ heads and seeing where they lead me.

The Bible Murders is actually suppose to be a sequel to my first book, To Tell the Truth. It was originally meant to be a spin-off that would be the beginning of a detective series with John Mentz as a P.I. I still have that intention as I always wanted to write my own detective series. Of course, Anna will come into his life off and on throughout this series, and their love will always be there. They have a connection that will always keep them together.

I haven’t forgotten about A Reason to Die. This book has something you don’t see in most books, and it has to do with what caused the murder. It will show love so strong, but there is another love there, too. Will he be able to make her eyes turn to him? We’ll just have to wait and see as the book progresses. There is a portion of this story that is based on a real life experience, and it has to do with A Reason to Die.

I was asked the other day where I got my idea for my book. I really had never thought about that before. They seem to just come to me; but when I thought about it, I realized it came from my character Anna. The character came to me one day and just wouldn’t leave, so I decided to put her on paper. Even though I had an idea of the story I wanted to write, I had many frustrating moments with the story. I can’t tell you how many times I rewrote those first three chapters. Finally I let go of the story and let Anna tell it.I had some problems when I first created Anna. I just couldn’t see to really get into her, and that caused me problems. Then one day I received a copy of one of my writer’s magazines. In it was a wonderful article that told me exactly what I needed to do, and I’ve been doing every since with my main characters. I gave and wrote a Character Interview. It gave me a better perspective of my character’s point of view, a better understanding of why she did the things she did. I finally understood her and was able to get inside of her. The realization came to me that Anna was me…me and every other woman out there who had to face situations in their life where they had to reach inside of themselves and find strength they didn’t know they had. She was me and you.

So what about these books that use the same character(s) in a series of books? Even though those books revolve around the main character, the plots can evolve from other things such as: a personal event, a news report, a true story that happened to someone else, a city/town, a historical event or character. And there are many other things that can be added to this list, but there is usually some inspiration there that starts the idea brewing in its writer’s head. Whether we writers realize it or not, there is a little or maybe even a lot of us in our story and/or character. Every writer has their own method of getting into their main character. I struggled with this for a long time until I discovered doing a Character Interview. That works for me. I don’t know if I’ll change this method in the future or not, but for right now it’s my method of choice.

I’ve been very busy these last few days. To Tell the Truth  now have been featured on Books In Sync, www.booksinsync.com). There is an interview with me in their Press Room. Please visit that website and have fun looking all the good books and authors they have on that website, including my book and me.

That’s not all I’ve been into. 🙂 I have my book on Kindle and on Nook, so get yours today. Ereaders are the rage now. I have a Nook and love it. Of course, I still have my stack of books at my bedside and read every night.

I have everything done that I can do right now. Hope to do more in the future when my book becomes available to the bookstores, but for right now I’ll be working on my upcoming books.

It is hot and lazy here today. A perfect day for something cold to drink and to write. I’m very pleased with my new website and still need to write the exerpts for my upcoming books. That should pretty much complete it except for keeping up my blog on that site.

I’ve been thinking about my story I’m writing on now, Run, Angel, Run. I think maybe my main character needs a pet, but I can’t decide on whether it should be a dog or a cat. Being a cat owner, I tend to want it to be a cat; but I am a dog lover, too, and am thinking a dog may be more favorable. In other words, a dog can add more to the story.

Angel is also changing her name now that she is in hiding. A love interest is necessary, also, so I have to develop that character. I love developing characters. Anyway, the story is beginning.
