A writer friend of mine, Elysabeth Eldering, recently wrote a post on Writers On The Move that really hit home with me. I love being inspired, and this certainly did that.

In her post she said she woke up one morning and, getting out of bed, a thought hit her that was rather a surprise to her. She wondered why she had thought of it. Obviously this thought really impressed her since she wrote a blog post about it.

Her thought? You would never in a million years guess it. I certainly would not, but it really struck a cord with me just as it did with her. Carpe Diem or seize the day.

It is a Latin phrase which translated into English means seize the day but can loosely be translated as “Pluck it when it is ripe.” When I read this, I got so excited; and of course, applied this thought to every phase of my life including my writing. You would not believe all I got done because I, too, wanted to seize the day. Not just the day but each and every moment of it, and I wanted to make the most of it. I didn’t apply this to one day, but I have been waking up to this thought every day since Elysabeth wrote about it.

I hope each and every one of you seize your day and make the most of it. Keep this phrase close to you and every day Carpe Diem!
